Youth Guidance’s WOW program is a multifaceted, school year-long group counseling and clinical mentoring program that works to improve social-emotional competencies for girls in 7th-12th grade exposed to traumatic stressors in high risk and under-resourced communities.

It was founded, in part, because studies show that young women are often left out of both the conversation and trauma-informed services when we talk about youth violence prevention.  And while young women engage in gun violence less frequently than young men, they are not immune to perpetrating violence.  More often than not, young women are more likely to be the victims of community violence and suffer from trauma.
