Youth-Led Tech Program Strives to Increase Job Opportunities for Youth

Get IN Chicago is funding a workforce program this summer called Youth-Led Tech which will be run by the Smart Chicago Collaborative in five locations across the city of Chicago – Austin, Englewood, Humboldt Park, North Lawndale, and Roseland. Youth-Led Tech will teach at-risk youth ages 13-18 how to use free and inexpensive web tools to create websites and use social media to build skills which are needed by many employers.  Youth will also be exposed to a variety of careers in the technology industry including jobs focused on strategy, project management, and design.  Youth-Led Tech will start at the end of June and run for six weeks through mid-August.
